Thompson Playa Del Carmen: Downtown Meets Beach with Official Debut on Mexico’s Riviera Maya

LOGOTHOMPSON

WGY just returned from an extremely very fun filled weekend at the amazing new Thompson Playa del Carmen. We were so pleasantly surprised with what Thompson Hotels has done with this property. First off, the hotel is absolutely gorgeous and the service was completely on point and perfect. 0 complaints which is rare with a new property. We were even more surprised that the flight from Miami was only 1 Hour and 15 Minutes and we were already there in paradise! What a great weekend getaway!

The newly debuted, first-of-its-kind boutique hotel in Playa del Carmen, lures guests with a diverse collection of stellar dining and imbibing experiences at both its main hotel, positioned on lively La Quinta Avenida, and the more relaxed, exclusive Beach House, located a few blocks away, steps from the Caribbean Sea shore. Executive Chef Pedro Abascal, a native of Mexico, leads each distinct restaurant concept at both properties, including: CATCH Playa del Carmen, the first Mexican outpost of the famed New York City-based sea-to-table dining and nightlife concept, CATCH; Cinco, a Mexican-inspired casual eatery located on the Rooftop opposite of CATCH; and C Grill, the beachfront, Mediterranean-infused restaurant adjacent to the Beach House. We were blown away by this property and we highly recommend for a weekend getaway, honeymoon, extended vacation and more. Playa Del Carmen is a destination that has so much to offer and at the Thompson being in the center of it all, we were IMPRESSED to say the least.

CATCH

CATCH Playa del Carmen

Located on the hotel’s breathtaking Rooftop, CATCH conjures a sophisticated beach-chic feel, blending the restaurant’s signature turquoise touches and breezy outdoor terrace to create the ultimate dining oasis. Guests can feast in the covered, open-air dining room or on the terrace, perched at the edge of the Rooftop overlooking downtown Playa and the Caribbean Sea. For an even more intimate experience, diners can reserve the 525 sq. ft. private dining alcove. Dramatically lined with a floor-to-ceiling wall of turquoise and silver fans, the private dining room’s unique design feature has proven to be a coveted photo opportunity since the restaurant’s opening.

Open for nightly dinner service, stand-out menu items at CATCH are a mix of favorites from the NYC flagship restaurant as well as dishes unique to the Mexican locale, including the restaurant’s Signature Cold Items, such as the Tartar Trio, Truffle Sashimi and Toro Tartar; as well as its selection of sushi rolls, such as the MRC Roll made with seared tuna, shrimp and ponzu butter; Hellfire Roll made with spicy tuna two ways, green apple, and balsamic vinegar; and Salmon Belly Carpaccio, made with watercress, pickled onion and wasabi ponzu. Popular entrees include Crispy Chicken, Herb Roasted Catch of the Day, and Picana, made with beef, charred spring onion, chimichurri, roasted potato, and kabayaki sauce. Also featured on the menu is a delectable selection of accompanying side dishes, such as Charred Cauliflower, Parmesan Truffle Fries and Lobster Mashed Potatoes. The eclectic dessert menu rounds out the dining experience, featuring the ‘Hit Me’ Chocolate Cake, a liquid ‘klondike’ with roasted white chocolate ice cream, brownie and devil’s food cake; Sticky Coconut Cake with coconut water sorbet, mango sauce and braised pineapple; and S’mores Pizza, complete with burnt marshmallow ice cream, and milk and dark chocolate.

The beverage menu features a number of Mexican-inspired cocktails utilizing native ingredients, including the signature Catch Me! cocktail, made with gin, passionfruit, lemon grass, rosemary and lime; the Kali, made with a jalapeno-infused tequila blanco, fresh-squeezed orange and lime juices, and agave nectar; and La Playa de la Reina, made with white rum, Kahlua, pineapple, and Mayan vanilla.

When dinner service ends, nightlife heats up on the hotel’s buzzing Rooftop as CATCH seamlessly transitions into an eclectic music space featuring nightly entertainment from both local and internationally-renowned DJ talent. The Rooftop also features special performances on holidays and for marquee cultural events. This past New Year’s Eve, CATCH was home to a myriad of celebrity appearances, including DJ Steve Aoki and NAS.

Cinco

 Cinco

Cinco is the hotel’s Mexican-inspired casual restaurant, serving breakfast and lunch daily, and brunch on the weekends. The open-air restaurant and bar’s design is inspired by honey, which Chef Pedro sources from nearby Tulum. The unique honeycomb-shaped ceiling complements the beehive-inspired, rattan swinging lanterns above the dining tables. The elevated dining area just off the edge of the infinity pool offers even more captivating views of downtown Playa and the Sea.

For breakfast, Cinco offers a delicious fresh smoothie menu, which includes Berry Nectar, made with banana, blueberry, orange and agave nectar; Ginger Girl, made with strawberry, ginger, banana, orange and organic Tulum honey; and Playa Cao, made with papaya, banana, amaranth, cacao nibs, and cinnamon. For a heartier breakfast, the Chilaquiles, made ‘red’ or ‘green’ with sour cream, cojita cheese, onion and radish; Thompson Green Eggs, made with poached eggs, raw green salsa, cured nopales, Valladolid dry chorizo and quelites; and Pan-Crusted Brioche French Toast with cured plums, lemon requeson and maple syrup are among guests’ favorites.

Signature menu items during lunch service include Samurai Tacos made with grilled local fish, Oaxaca cheese, bayo beans, avocado and chipotle; Lobster Tostada with guajillo, bayo beans and pickled onion radish; and Daily Ceviche, prepared with the fresh catch-of-the-day and locally-sourced vegetables and herbs.

The rooftop also features indigenous landscaping and greenery, including a chef’s garden and ‘living wall.’ Both rooftop restaurants are in high demand for private parties, corporate events and weddings.

 C Grill

C Grill, a dining concept unlike any other in Playa del Carmen, is a casual, beachfront restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Offering light, Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, Chef Pedro serves up shareable dishes, such as the Mezze Plate with house-made hummus, babaganoush and pita; the Heirloom Tomato Salad, made with fresh tomatoes sourced from nearby Tulum; and a fresh Catch of the Day, caught just offshore each morning by Chef Pedro and his team of local fishermen, and carefully cooked over the restaurant’s rustic, open, wood-fired grill. Mezcal tastings, hand-crafted cocktails, and locally-made tequilas and beer perfectly complement each meal, which are best topped off with locally-sourced chocolate or a cup of Cobalto coffee, made with beans from local farms in Chiapas, Veracruz and Tabasco.

The Beach House produces weekly activations for guests to enjoy an authentic Mexican experience with cutting-edge music, and tantalizing cocktails and cuisine, all set against the picturesque backdrop of the Caribbean Sea. Weekly events include a ‘make-your-own-ceviche’ class with Chef Pedro, who teaches guests how to create delicious ceviche, made with fresh-caught fish and local citrus; a homemade sangria workshop, led by Consulting Mixologist Omar Dorantes; and oyster shucking and tastings. Chef Pedro even offers a “Catch of the Day” program where guests can join him on an interactive excursion with local fishermen where he catches fish offshore to be grilled or made into ceviche or sushi for dinner.

For an ultra-exclusive dining experience, guests are invited to experience Privada House, a social culinary affair personally hosted by Chef Pedro. The interactive dining event allows guests to see and learn firsthand about the cuisine Chef Pedro and his culinary team prepare. From tasting the Catch of the Day to pairing dishes with exclusive wines grown from Chef Pedro’s very own vineyard in Baja, Mexico, the culinary journey at Privada House will ensure memories to last a lifetime. Live music including exclusive DJs and electronic violinists will also set tone for the magical evening.

About Thompson Playa del Carmen

Thompson Playa del Carmen debuted in November 2015 as the first luxury lifestyle hotel in Playa del Carmen, complete with two locations, each offering a distinct experience and vibe.  Both locations showcase the creative talents of lauded Mexican architecture firms AS Arquitectura and Sejio Peon, along with notable designers Niz + Chauvet, who together fused mid-century Mexican accents with vivid geometrics in natural wood, tile and stone to create a 1950s-inspired, glamorous Mexican oasis.  The 92-room main hotel is ideally located on lively La Quinta Avenida — Playa’s two-mile, pedestrian-only thoroughfare featuring a large selection of shopping, dining and entertainment options — and Calle 12, which boasts the best bars and nightclubs in Riviera Maya.  Perched atop the main hotel’s expansive, 30,000-square-foot rooftop is CATCH, the first Mexican outpost of New York City-based EMM Group’s popular dining and nightlife concept, and Cinco, an authentic, Mexican-inspired restaurant, along with a meandering infinity pool with island perches and in-water loungers, and 360-degree views of downtown Playa and the Caribbean Sea.  Located just a few blocks away, the more intimate, oceanfront Beach House features 27 luxury guest rooms and suites, an exclusive pool, private cabanas and oceanfront restaurant, C Grill, and a plethora of seaside activities, including stand-up paddleboarding, diving and beachfront yoga.

We are so excited that we were able to experience this gem and now with our amazing partnership with the amazing Playa Del Carmen and the Thompson Beach House, we are able to offer our clients the best offers yet. Enjoy Playa Del Carmen and remember to give us your feedback!

C’EST ROUGE! WORLD PREMIERE DEBUTS AT THE GRAND OPENING OF FAENA THEATER

WRE_9319

On Friday, June 3, 2016 the Faena Theater in Miami celebrated its grand opening with the highly anticipated world premiere for C’est Rouge!, a sensual and seductive revue set in the intimate 150-seat cabaret-style theater. Blanca Li, internationally celebrated choreographer, orchestrated a fantasyland of beauty, mystery and desire told through enthralling vignettes set to Latin American and Jazz rhythms of the C’est Rouge! band. WGY was there for all of the exciting celebrations!

Hosted by Alan Faena and Ximena Caminos, the evening was enjoyed by a definitive mix from the world of art, design, film and fashion. Revelers included Len Blavatnik, Dwyane Wade, Oribe, Inés Rivero, Romero Britto, Elsa Benitez, Bhakti Baxter, Marvin Ross Friedman & Adrienne Bon Haes, Lee Brian Schrager, Ugo & Sara Colombo, David & Christy Martin, Jonathan & Criselda Breene, Chad & Ilona Oppenheim, George Lindemann, Calyann Barnett, Miky & Leticia Grendene, Kotan Fernandez & Candela Ferro, Iran Issa Khan and Harmony Korine to name a few.

C’est Rouge! guests experienced a memorable show in an enchanting setting cloaked in the grand style of European opera houses juxtaposed with the glamour of 1950s Miami. After the show, the party continued as boldfaced names and guests alike made their way to the clandestine Saxony Bar.

Alan Faena brought together a first-class artistic team, featuring Blanca Li as Director and Choreographer and Dani Morla as Artistic Director.

The fantastical late night show is now open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays with doors opening at 9:30pm and shows starting at 10:30pm at the Faena Theater located on 32nd street and Collins Avenue. Tickets are on sale beginning at $45 and are available through www.ticketmaster.com.

Luxury for Less in Barcelona

image1.tumblr_mpiqzzaJjO1r2doe0o1_1280

For most people, traveling in style across Europe is just a pipe dream, and because of that, many travelers never get to indulge in the extravagance of the high life. In Barcelona however, opulence isn’t limited to the wealthy, as travel writer Sònia Graupera explains to one of National Geographic’s correspondents: “[hotel prices in the city] are still very reasonable, compared to Paris, London, or Milan.”

In the past few years, international chains have expanded in Spain’s second largest city, which worries many budget travelers as boutique hotels have probably upped their costs now that Barcelona is drawing in a higher-earning clientele. But from Sònia’s experience from writing travel pieces about the city, she assures that the family-owned boutique hotels have maintained their affordable pricing.

One of these boutique hotels is the futuristic looking Room Mate Emma, which have decently priced rooms as well as suites with with private terraces. Not too far off from this hotel’s area is The5Rooms, with each of its rooms designed with a different feel. Perhaps the coziest room they have is one that is decked out with bare brick wall and romantic lighting.

For nightlife, travelers will probably check out the city’s bars and clubs, however hopping from place to place in the nightclub district could end disastrously with you spending more than you planned. An alternative to a fancy night out without blowing your savings is by heading over to Casino Barcelona, one of Europe’s finest gambling facilities designed by architect Frank Gehry.

image3.1320952658915

The casino boasts one of the most stunning views of the Mediterraean, and invites all kinds of gamblers to take advantage of their extensive selection of games. These days, many choose to play their casino games online, as many portals are able to provide a bigger selection of games. Gala Casino, in fact, releases new games every week, giving a choice of nearly 400 games that are playable across a variety of devices. While they can’t hope to have the same diversity and variety of games, land-based casinos still uphold a certain kind of elegance and luxury that people still find appealing. Hence why Casino Barcelona is still one of the most revered gaming spots in the world.

After trying your luck at the regular cash games, head over to one of many establishments surrounding the casino and have a cocktail while listening to some live music. The selection of bars and restaurants saves you from having to pay for cab fares between bars and separate entrance fees.

With the diversity of accommodations and entertainment hubs offered, Barcelona makes it possible for you travel luxuriously without spending a fortune.

These are the 10 Best Restaurants in the World

FOODPORN

What’s the greatest restaurant in the world? Top chefs and those who fork over their fortunes to eat their food are fascinated with the question. Now a new ranking has emerged to provide some extra fodder to the debate.

According to La Liste, a group convened by the France’s Foreign Minister and supported by the country’s tourism board, the top restaurant in the world is the Restaurant de l’Hôtel de Ville in Crissier, Switzerland. New York City’s Per Se has grabbed the number two spot, according to the new ranking. Tokyo’s Kyo Aji comes in third.

The ranking’s creators shared their global top 10 and top 100 American restaurants with TIME.

Devoted five-star diners will note that only one restaurant in La Liste’s top 10 can be found on the current leading ranking of top restaurants, the World’s 50 Best list. And there’s good reason. No French restaurant has broken into the top 10 of that list, sponsored by water-maker San Pellegrino, in the last four years. La Liste featured three French restaurants in its top ten. France’s exclusion from the upper rungs of the World’s 50 Best has angered leading French cultural figures proud of their country’s culinary tradition. Partly in response to this disappointment, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius launched the new initiative to promote French tourism and fine dining.

“The angle was not to promote French [restaurants] per se,” says La Liste’s Antoine Ribaut, “but to be objective, because we trust we have the good fine dining.” Ribaut says the World’s 50 Best list is not objective. Several media outlets have pointed out that the lack of transparency does raise questions about how that list, sponsored by San Pellegrino, is decided. (Ribaut has consulted for Time Inc. His father Jean-Claude, the long-time food critic for Le Monde, contributed to the project.)

“Given that this list is based on personal experiences it can never be definitive, but we believe it is an honourable survey of current tastes and a credible indicator of the best places to eat around the globe,” the World’s 50 Best says on the organization’s web site.

“The thing with 50 Best is that the French were underrepresented, for sure,” Antoine Ribaut says, “but the reason why they were underrepresented was because there was a murky financial pressure for restaurants.” The funding for La Liste, it should be noted, came largely from private French cultural institutions. Swiss food giant Nestle is also a supporter.

Unlike the World’s 50 Best list, which is drawn from private surveys of chefs and those who frequent leading restaurants, La Liste is sourced from publicly available data, aggregating scores from 200 food guides and online review sites to produce what it hopes will be seen as an accurate, unbiased report of the best in the world.

The ranking is based on scores and reviews from a wide range of international sources: Michelin stars, yes, but also New York Times and Washington Post reviews, Zagat and Yelp ratings, Forbes and AAA travel guides and James Beard awards in the U.S., plus the cultural equivalents of these institutions in other countries (with help from foreign advisers).

Ribaut and his team then created an algorithm to assign these scores a value on a scale of 100; food factored in as 80% of the score, while ambiance, décor and wine combined factored in as 20%. If there was a positive review that didn’t include a numeric score, Ribaut counted it as a small bonus.

The Best of Bali

One of our favorite parts about our job is questing every country and city throughout the world to find the best, most luxurious hotels, culinary scenes, nightlife venues, shopping destinations and more. Essentially, we’re yearning for those must-visit locations so WGY Lifestyle could give you a dream vacation. We don’t just visit the hotspots an average jetsetter might find online; we travel (first class, obviously), visit, speak to locals and do whatever it takes to make sure we’ve got the crème de la crème for our members.

This week, we’ve got Bali on our mind! Check out our top picks for what to do and where to go when visiting this living postcard.

1. Villa at Pepper Seminyak

Pepper SeminyakWhen it comes to hotel accommodations, we have to give a shout out to Pepper Seminyak. The world-class luxury resort is located on the Southwestern coast of Bali. This oasis is nestled between tropical gardens and lotus ponds while featuring private pools, teak decks and designer loungers to add an extra oomph of relaxation.

2. Potato Head

Potato HeadClaimed as a Bali institution, Potato Head Beach Club is not your typical lunch spot but rather one of the best holiday destinations in the world (says Condé Nast Traveller). Found in Seminyak, you’ll experience beautiful architecture, an outdoor lawn, two bars, two restaurants and an infinity view overlooking the Indian Ocean; it’s a spot that’s definitely not to miss.

3. Sunset at Rok Bar

Sunset Rock Bar

Located at the Ayana Resort, at Rok Bar you’ll find 360 degrees of good vibes, great drinks and most importantly, a view to leave you breathless. This innovative open-top bar is perched upon natural rock, 45 feet above Jimbaran Bay, facing the ocean. Voted as one best bars in Bali, we’d recommend checking it out during sunset over and over again.

4. Ku De Ta

Ku De Ta

With 15 years of delicious experience under their belts, Ku De Ta is one of our all-time favorite restaurants to grab dinner and one of the most desired dining locations in Bali. With a menu that serves gourmet global cuisine with a Mediterranean twist, you’ll discover a delicious collision of when art meets fine dining.

5. Nikki Beach

Nikki Beach

While you may think you know Nikki Beach, this Bali venue brings you a new vision of luxury with a picture-perfect beachfront scene. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy refreshing cocktails, endless champagne and panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. Lounge (or dance) upon plush white sun beds and enjoy lunch, bottle service and music. Looking to go for a dip? The party doesn’t stop when you get in the water thanks to their underwater speakers and swim up bar.

6. Uluwatu

uluwatu-beach

After all of your traveling, you’re going to need some downtime. We’re in love with the beaches in Uluwatu. Our favorite secret beach spot is the perfect hideaway to camp out and escape the world that you left behind, so make sure to check out Bingin beach. Free of tourists, you’ll find crystal waters, sandy beaches and a sun that will leave you glowing.

7. Ubud

Ubud

This spiritual town in the heart of Bali is famous for being the center of art, culture and music, as well as the famous hotel, The Hanging Gardens (home to one of the most beautiful pools in the world). Here you’ll find scenic rice fields and small villages upon its Holy River and amazing mountains. While it’s rumored that most of the magic of Ubud is hidden, it’s definitely a treasure hunt worth uncovering.

How to Have the Great Wall of China All to Yourself

Written by , Conde Nast Traveler

BR4M3R Hiker on Great Wall, Jinshanling, Hebei, China. Image shot 2008. Exact date unknown.

Bypass the selfie stick swarms for a luxury ride to the less touristed sections of the Great Wall, courtesy of the Opposite House Beijing.

Imagine hiking the Great Wall, from tower to tower, in quiet solitude—no throngs of tourists competing for your view, or stopping mid-stride to take a selfie. The moment goes from obligatory—”a China must-do”—to a lifelong memory.

It’s more than a fantasy: We recently took a guided and chauffeured tour organized by the Opposite House, an ultramodern hotel in Beijing’s energetic Sanlitun district. With the help of a registered guide, fluent in both English and Mandarin, and a chauffeured Audi A6, we were able to bypass the popular, overrun Badaling section of the Wall to explore less-touristed stretches—Mutianyu, Huanghuacheng, Simatai, or Jinshanling—free from bus groups and souvenir hawkers.

We traveled in air-conditioned comfort, nodding off during the hour-and-a-half ride to the outskirts of Beijing, completely free from the headache of public transportation and a rigid schedule. Due to crowds, a visit to the Great Wall can be as nerve-wracking as it is awe-inspiring; but our ability to dictate everything according to our individual interests (photography), time frame (a few hours before a business meeting), and energy level (relaxed) removed all potential frustrations. It let us just be there in the moment, experiencing one of the world’s great wonders.

Beyond sharing the history of the Great Wall, our guide helped set up photos, remained patient whenever we got into Snapchatting, and even rode the Mutianyu section’s famous toboggan track exit from the Wall with us. On the way back into Beijing, bellies grumbling, we requested a stop at the city’s infamous Wangfujing Snack Street, where our guide negotiated with local food vendors to make our dream—a lunch of scorpions-on-a-stick—a reality.

These Are the Hottest Destinations of 2015

Trendsetters, heads up! If you want to be in the know about the next Hot Destinations of 2015, look no further than these gems:

Catedral_Guadalajara

THE NEXT IT CITY

Look out, Mexico City—Guadalajara, the country’s second-largest metropolis and the capital of Jalisco is coming into its own. Especially the food scene, which is as good as you’d expect in the birthplace of tequila and the torta ahogada (a chili pepper sauce–soaked pork sandwich). Check out Casa Fayette, the new Grupo Habita hotel opening in late summer.

Stiniva_beach,_island_of_Vis,_Croatia_(2)

THE NEXT IT ISLAND

Vis, a tiny, just- bustling-enough island off mainland Croatia, has all the Adriatic allure of Split (boating, gorgeous coves and beaches, insanely good seafood) without the crowds and Euro-disco vibe. Stay at the charmingly simple Hotel San Georgio.

THE NEXT IT BEACH

Call it the new Tulum: Trancoso, in Brazil’s Bahia State, has perfectly clear waters, a breezy, buzzy scene, and so many off- duty fashion people that you wonder who’s left in Milan and Paris. Strict zoning laws keep this fishermen’s town low-key and intimate. We recommend Uxua Casa Hotel & Spa, in the colorfully painted town square.

WGY Interview: What’s Next at Fontainebleau Miami Beach?

Since the Fontainebleau opened in 1954, it has become the staple Miami Beach resort property and it continues to expand, upgrade and innovate. WGY spoke exclusively with Josh Herman, Director of Marketing & PR at Fontainebleau Miami Beach, about the success of the brand and everything Miami Beach:

WGY: The Fontainebleau opened in ’54. 60 Years later – what would you say is the property’s greatest accomplishment?

Herman: After a grand re-invention in 2008, Fontainebleau Miami Beach continues to bring guests and visitors the best in dining, nightlife, entertainment, spa, shopping and the most luxurious guest experience.

In 2011, we launched BleauLive, the hotel’s entertainment platform established to preserve Fontainebleau’s stature as the destination where entertainment and glamour fuse by bringing modern, unique, priceless experiences to guests. Since the inception of the series, we have hosted artists such as Pitbull, Ne-Yo, Maroon 5, Afrojack, Robin Thicke, Pharell Williams, Blondie, Neon Trees, Jennifer Lopez and many more. In addition to entertainment, Fontainebleau is dedicated to bringing guests and visitors alike an incomparable collection of dining experiences including two AAA four diamond award winning restaurants, Hakkasan and Scarpetta. Most recently, we have added two more signature restaurants: StripSteak and Michael Mina 74, both concepts by the award winning Chef. To complement our restaurants, Fontainebleau has taken freshness to a whole new level with our BleauFish Ocean to Table live catch, ocean-to-table seafood program, featuring fishing operations exclusive to the hotel and delivering fresh catches daily. Including fish, lobster and Florida stone crab claws.

Additionally, in 2012, the American Institute of Architects (AIA Florida) launched a Top 100 Buildings online competition called “100 Years. 100 Places.” Fontainebleau was honored to have placed as number one in the state after garnering the most votes from the public and out of 2.4 million casted votes.

For more information on the award and Fontainebleau’s history/architecture, visit: http://www.fontainebleau.com/web/about_bleau/aia_top_building_in_florida

WGY: What makes the Fontainebleau different than other resort properties in Miami?

Herman: Fontainebleau’s design is unlike any other hotel. When you arrive to the main lobby, there’s a certain feeling that takes over, a sense of glamour and sophistication that is truly unmatched by other Miami properties. Some stand-out unique design elements that have stood the test of time are the Stairway to Nowhere, a grand staircase in the main lobby that was originally designed for guests to make their grand entrance; they would check-in and take an elevator up to a coat check and then descend down the stairs, essentially if you were to go up the stairs they do not really lead anywhere. In addition, Fontainebleau’s original Chateau building was designed by famed architect, Morris Lapidus, who was known for always wearing bow ties. When designing the Fontainebleau, he incorporated black marble bow ties into the white marble floor of the lobby; it was the only signature he placed in the hotel.

WGY: With all the new construction in Miami and the surrounding areas, The Fontainebleau always seems to stay ahead of the game and remains the ultimate Miami stay. How does the FB always do this?

Herman: Our guests are our number one priority and providing consistent luxury service keeps travelers coming back for more. Fontainebleau has learned to evolve with the modern traveler and their needs. An example of this is the hotel’s recent launch of StayNTouch, Fontainebleau’s mobile check-in program that allows guests to check-in and out via their mobile phones, making the arrival/departure process much more simple and efficient for both guests and employees and taking the guest’s limited amount of time into consideration.

Fontainebleau owner,  Jeff Soffer also puts a great amount of effort into growing our food & beverage program as to always offer our guests the best dining experiences. Within a short period of time, Fontainebleau welcomed 3 new dining establishments including Michael Mina 74 and StripSteak, both by award winning Chef, Michael Mina; and the re-opening of Fontainebleau’s coffee and patisserie shop, Chez Bon Bon which plays homage to the original patisserie that opened with Fontainebleau in 1954.

WGY: I was watching a documentry about Steve Wynn and he said that a lot of his creative inspiration came from his trips to the Fontainebleau. How does the hotel react to such an incredible statement made?

Herman: We are honored to hear that Mr. Wynn found inspiration when visiting the hotel and hope this is an impression we can leave on all our guests and visitors.

WGY: Tell us about the BleauLive concert series? What can people expect?

Herman: The BleauLive performance series continues to evolve and expand and we are excited to continuously innovate and entertain our guests in an iconic setting. Since its inception, we have hosted artists like Maroon 5, Ne-Yo, Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and many more. Our next show is on Saturday, April 11th featuring the Hall-of-fame American rock band, Heart.

WGY: Anything new, next or fun that we should know about?

Herman: This year, Fontainebleau will celebrate 100 years of Frank Sinatra in honor of his upcoming centennial with programming including VIP events, services, cocktails, spa treatments, signature design elements, dapper retail offerings and a few additional surprises. Stay tuned!
