VIRTUOSO® REVEALS WHERE UPSCALE TRAVELERS ARE VENTURING THIS FALL AND HOLIDAY SEASON

LUX
International luxury travel network Virtuoso® is answering the question on everyone’s minds: what are the hottest upscale destinations for this year’s holiday season? Acknowledged as a prominent trend prector in the industry, Virtuoso has sourced data from its warehouse of more than $35 billion in transactions to disclose the top destinations for the coming fall and holiday period. Luxury travelers are remaining true to European favorites, while turning their attention to warmer climes as the weather shifts at home. They also are seeking out more exotic locales worldwide, including a boom for African countries.

The Virtuoso Top 10:
The most popular fall and holiday travel destinations based on future bookings.

1.       Italy
2.       France
3.       United Kingdom
4.       South Africa
5.       Spain
6.       Mexico
7.       China
8.       Australia
9.       New Zealand
10.   Israel
The Top 10 analysis:  Europe’s unrivaled popularity for summer travel continues into the fall. Travelers are enjoying lower average daily rates (ADRs) at Virtuoso partner hotels in major European cities as summer ends. In particular, Paris is down two percent ($1,087), Rome is six percent lower ($949), London is down seven percent ($704) and Barcelona comes in 15 percent lower than summer rates ($596). London and Barcelona in particular represent great value to travelers this fall and holiday season, as they are respectively 21 and 43 percent below the average ADR for Virtuoso partner properties in Europe, which is $853. Also noteworthy: Mexico’s appeal as a warm-weather getaway for Americans and Canadians holds fast despite Zika cautions. Australia and New Zealand are always favored destinations once the Northern Hemisphere cools. In spite of continued Middle East unrest, Israel’s popularity is undiminished. It is a sought-out destination not only for its religious significance, but also for its history, food, culture and adventure experiences.

The Virtuoso Hot 10:
The countries that have seen the largest percentage of growth in year-over-year bookings.
1.       Kenya (+59%)
2.       Iceland (+56%)
3.       Saint Martin (+39%)
4.       China (+35%)
5.       Ecuador (+34%)
6.       Japan (+32%)
7.       South Africa (+28%)
8.       Tanzania (+27%)
9.       Croatia (+25%)
10.   Jamaica (+23%)

The Hot 10 analysis:  Africa continues to surge in popularity, a continuation of the trend Virtuoso noted for summer travel. With sales up 28 percent year over year, Africa is the only continent to post such an increase. Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa, all strong safari destinations, will benefit from a projected 17 percent increase. According to Virtuoso’s travel advisors, safaris are particularly appealing for multigenerational family trips with plenty to see and enjoy for travelers of all ages. Iceland has been a growing favorite in recent years, and its prominent showing on the Hot 10 proves that its popularity is extending into the fall. China has been trending upwards with luxury travelers over the past few years. While travel there is steady year round, the last quarter of the year is the most popular time for visitors, aided by ADRs that are five percent below average. Select Caribbean and South American destinations continue to see growth, with Saint Martin, Ecuador and Jamaica experiencing double-digit increases over last year.
Data is drawn from Virtuoso’s United States and Canadian-based travel agency members and reflects future travel for September through December 2016. The Top and Hot 10 lists represent international travel only, so neither the U.S. nor Canada is mentioned. The findings were announced during the annual Virtuoso Travel Week event taking place in Las Vegas.

Thompson Playa Del Carmen: Downtown Meets Beach with Official Debut on Mexico’s Riviera Maya

LOGOTHOMPSON

WGY just returned from an extremely very fun filled weekend at the amazing new Thompson Playa del Carmen. We were so pleasantly surprised with what Thompson Hotels has done with this property. First off, the hotel is absolutely gorgeous and the service was completely on point and perfect. 0 complaints which is rare with a new property. We were even more surprised that the flight from Miami was only 1 Hour and 15 Minutes and we were already there in paradise! What a great weekend getaway!

The newly debuted, first-of-its-kind boutique hotel in Playa del Carmen, lures guests with a diverse collection of stellar dining and imbibing experiences at both its main hotel, positioned on lively La Quinta Avenida, and the more relaxed, exclusive Beach House, located a few blocks away, steps from the Caribbean Sea shore. Executive Chef Pedro Abascal, a native of Mexico, leads each distinct restaurant concept at both properties, including: CATCH Playa del Carmen, the first Mexican outpost of the famed New York City-based sea-to-table dining and nightlife concept, CATCH; Cinco, a Mexican-inspired casual eatery located on the Rooftop opposite of CATCH; and C Grill, the beachfront, Mediterranean-infused restaurant adjacent to the Beach House. We were blown away by this property and we highly recommend for a weekend getaway, honeymoon, extended vacation and more. Playa Del Carmen is a destination that has so much to offer and at the Thompson being in the center of it all, we were IMPRESSED to say the least.

CATCH

CATCH Playa del Carmen

Located on the hotel’s breathtaking Rooftop, CATCH conjures a sophisticated beach-chic feel, blending the restaurant’s signature turquoise touches and breezy outdoor terrace to create the ultimate dining oasis. Guests can feast in the covered, open-air dining room or on the terrace, perched at the edge of the Rooftop overlooking downtown Playa and the Caribbean Sea. For an even more intimate experience, diners can reserve the 525 sq. ft. private dining alcove. Dramatically lined with a floor-to-ceiling wall of turquoise and silver fans, the private dining room’s unique design feature has proven to be a coveted photo opportunity since the restaurant’s opening.

Open for nightly dinner service, stand-out menu items at CATCH are a mix of favorites from the NYC flagship restaurant as well as dishes unique to the Mexican locale, including the restaurant’s Signature Cold Items, such as the Tartar Trio, Truffle Sashimi and Toro Tartar; as well as its selection of sushi rolls, such as the MRC Roll made with seared tuna, shrimp and ponzu butter; Hellfire Roll made with spicy tuna two ways, green apple, and balsamic vinegar; and Salmon Belly Carpaccio, made with watercress, pickled onion and wasabi ponzu. Popular entrees include Crispy Chicken, Herb Roasted Catch of the Day, and Picana, made with beef, charred spring onion, chimichurri, roasted potato, and kabayaki sauce. Also featured on the menu is a delectable selection of accompanying side dishes, such as Charred Cauliflower, Parmesan Truffle Fries and Lobster Mashed Potatoes. The eclectic dessert menu rounds out the dining experience, featuring the ‘Hit Me’ Chocolate Cake, a liquid ‘klondike’ with roasted white chocolate ice cream, brownie and devil’s food cake; Sticky Coconut Cake with coconut water sorbet, mango sauce and braised pineapple; and S’mores Pizza, complete with burnt marshmallow ice cream, and milk and dark chocolate.

The beverage menu features a number of Mexican-inspired cocktails utilizing native ingredients, including the signature Catch Me! cocktail, made with gin, passionfruit, lemon grass, rosemary and lime; the Kali, made with a jalapeno-infused tequila blanco, fresh-squeezed orange and lime juices, and agave nectar; and La Playa de la Reina, made with white rum, Kahlua, pineapple, and Mayan vanilla.

When dinner service ends, nightlife heats up on the hotel’s buzzing Rooftop as CATCH seamlessly transitions into an eclectic music space featuring nightly entertainment from both local and internationally-renowned DJ talent. The Rooftop also features special performances on holidays and for marquee cultural events. This past New Year’s Eve, CATCH was home to a myriad of celebrity appearances, including DJ Steve Aoki and NAS.

Cinco

 Cinco

Cinco is the hotel’s Mexican-inspired casual restaurant, serving breakfast and lunch daily, and brunch on the weekends. The open-air restaurant and bar’s design is inspired by honey, which Chef Pedro sources from nearby Tulum. The unique honeycomb-shaped ceiling complements the beehive-inspired, rattan swinging lanterns above the dining tables. The elevated dining area just off the edge of the infinity pool offers even more captivating views of downtown Playa and the Sea.

For breakfast, Cinco offers a delicious fresh smoothie menu, which includes Berry Nectar, made with banana, blueberry, orange and agave nectar; Ginger Girl, made with strawberry, ginger, banana, orange and organic Tulum honey; and Playa Cao, made with papaya, banana, amaranth, cacao nibs, and cinnamon. For a heartier breakfast, the Chilaquiles, made ‘red’ or ‘green’ with sour cream, cojita cheese, onion and radish; Thompson Green Eggs, made with poached eggs, raw green salsa, cured nopales, Valladolid dry chorizo and quelites; and Pan-Crusted Brioche French Toast with cured plums, lemon requeson and maple syrup are among guests’ favorites.

Signature menu items during lunch service include Samurai Tacos made with grilled local fish, Oaxaca cheese, bayo beans, avocado and chipotle; Lobster Tostada with guajillo, bayo beans and pickled onion radish; and Daily Ceviche, prepared with the fresh catch-of-the-day and locally-sourced vegetables and herbs.

The rooftop also features indigenous landscaping and greenery, including a chef’s garden and ‘living wall.’ Both rooftop restaurants are in high demand for private parties, corporate events and weddings.

 C Grill

C Grill, a dining concept unlike any other in Playa del Carmen, is a casual, beachfront restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Offering light, Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, Chef Pedro serves up shareable dishes, such as the Mezze Plate with house-made hummus, babaganoush and pita; the Heirloom Tomato Salad, made with fresh tomatoes sourced from nearby Tulum; and a fresh Catch of the Day, caught just offshore each morning by Chef Pedro and his team of local fishermen, and carefully cooked over the restaurant’s rustic, open, wood-fired grill. Mezcal tastings, hand-crafted cocktails, and locally-made tequilas and beer perfectly complement each meal, which are best topped off with locally-sourced chocolate or a cup of Cobalto coffee, made with beans from local farms in Chiapas, Veracruz and Tabasco.

The Beach House produces weekly activations for guests to enjoy an authentic Mexican experience with cutting-edge music, and tantalizing cocktails and cuisine, all set against the picturesque backdrop of the Caribbean Sea. Weekly events include a ‘make-your-own-ceviche’ class with Chef Pedro, who teaches guests how to create delicious ceviche, made with fresh-caught fish and local citrus; a homemade sangria workshop, led by Consulting Mixologist Omar Dorantes; and oyster shucking and tastings. Chef Pedro even offers a “Catch of the Day” program where guests can join him on an interactive excursion with local fishermen where he catches fish offshore to be grilled or made into ceviche or sushi for dinner.

For an ultra-exclusive dining experience, guests are invited to experience Privada House, a social culinary affair personally hosted by Chef Pedro. The interactive dining event allows guests to see and learn firsthand about the cuisine Chef Pedro and his culinary team prepare. From tasting the Catch of the Day to pairing dishes with exclusive wines grown from Chef Pedro’s very own vineyard in Baja, Mexico, the culinary journey at Privada House will ensure memories to last a lifetime. Live music including exclusive DJs and electronic violinists will also set tone for the magical evening.

About Thompson Playa del Carmen

Thompson Playa del Carmen debuted in November 2015 as the first luxury lifestyle hotel in Playa del Carmen, complete with two locations, each offering a distinct experience and vibe.  Both locations showcase the creative talents of lauded Mexican architecture firms AS Arquitectura and Sejio Peon, along with notable designers Niz + Chauvet, who together fused mid-century Mexican accents with vivid geometrics in natural wood, tile and stone to create a 1950s-inspired, glamorous Mexican oasis.  The 92-room main hotel is ideally located on lively La Quinta Avenida — Playa’s two-mile, pedestrian-only thoroughfare featuring a large selection of shopping, dining and entertainment options — and Calle 12, which boasts the best bars and nightclubs in Riviera Maya.  Perched atop the main hotel’s expansive, 30,000-square-foot rooftop is CATCH, the first Mexican outpost of New York City-based EMM Group’s popular dining and nightlife concept, and Cinco, an authentic, Mexican-inspired restaurant, along with a meandering infinity pool with island perches and in-water loungers, and 360-degree views of downtown Playa and the Caribbean Sea.  Located just a few blocks away, the more intimate, oceanfront Beach House features 27 luxury guest rooms and suites, an exclusive pool, private cabanas and oceanfront restaurant, C Grill, and a plethora of seaside activities, including stand-up paddleboarding, diving and beachfront yoga.

We are so excited that we were able to experience this gem and now with our amazing partnership with the amazing Playa Del Carmen and the Thompson Beach House, we are able to offer our clients the best offers yet. Enjoy Playa Del Carmen and remember to give us your feedback!

The Best Honeymoon Destinations in 2016!

Planning your honeymoon but not sure where to start? To help you get underway, we’ve searched high and low for the best honeymoon destination in 2016 based on current travel trends. This year it seems more and more couples are staying further away from the traditional lazy beach days (though there are still plenty of opportunities for that), with many couples looking for more adventurous honeymoons, crafting once in a lifetime trips to countries and experiences they thought they could only dream of.  So what are you waiting for? Here are the best honeymoon destinations right now! We would love to curate the perfect honeymoon for you! Please contact WGY Lifestyle at (888)-WGY-0808 or by email at info@wgylifestyle.com and one of our life stylists will walk you and your spouse through every little detail!

Safari in Tanzania

Serengeti, Tanzania

Going on safari is the journey of a lifetime and as such would have to be one of the most memorable honeymoon destinations on offer. There are plenty of different safaris on offer in the African continent, with each country offering something a little different. For example if you’d like to see meerkats, you’ll need to head further south. If you’re most interested in seeing The Big 5, you can see these in the Kruger National Park or in East Africa – though rhino sightings are becoming more and more rare. One of my favourite safari experiences (having previously been in Kruger twice, Pilanesberg once and now Serengeti once) was my recent visit to Serengeti National Park, Tanzania.

If you’re looking to splurge for a once in a lifetime experience, Singita have a number of lodges on a private reserve adjacent to Serengeti.

Best time to go: June-October for game watching; January-February for baby season

Brooke & Wills | Maldives

Maldives

As iconic as honeymoons come, the Maldives is characterised by crystal clear waters, blue sunny skies, and incredible colours at sunset. Recently my partner and I travelled to the Maldives for a week I will never forget – sun, snorkelling, amazing cuisine, swimming in the ocean right outside our water villa… you get the idea! The Maldives is however an expensive honeymoon choice, particularly in the big international resorts… so if you’re on a budget, it might pay to look elsewhere in Asia – even as close as neighbouring Sri Lanka.

For an impossibly romantic and flawless stay,  we can highly recommend Taj Exotica for your visit to the Maldives.

Best time to go: May-November, though we found March very pleasant with only a couple of light showers.

the_algarve_portugal_beach

The Algarve, Portugal

With a year-round warm climate (though cold waters in winter), the Mediterranean is a much loved holiday destination for Europeans and visitors from further abroad. Although it has long been a popular beach holiday destination for the Portuguese for decades, recently the Algarve in Portugal’s south has earned itself the reputation as one of the most romantic locations in the Mediterranean, making it a great choice for honeymooners.

Villa Vita Parc are legendary in the Algarve for offering the most luxurious, authentic Portuguese experience on the coast.

Best time to go: Spring & Summer, though the Algarve is truly a year-round destination

Thalia_Tasmania

Tasmania, Australia

You might have noticed the little island below mainland Australia getting a lot of traction lately, both on this blog and in other global publications around the world. That is because until the last few years, Tasmania has remained a hidden gem and a well kept secret of those who visited previously. Well now the secret is out! Tasmania is home to fresh farm-to-table produce, pristine white sand beaches, beautiful bays to hike into and explore, as well as a gorgeous capital city, Hobart, idyllically located on the waterfront.

Saffire Freycinet is an all inclusive experience that was named the best boutique hotel in the world and while it doesn’t come cheap, the experience is second to none!

Best time to go: Early December-End February for the best of the summer sunshine

Contact WGY Lifestyle for booking inquiries.

kylemore abbey ireland

Ireland

Lush greenery, rolling valleys and impressive steep cliffsides… there really is no reason not to fall in love with Ireland. An Irish road trip might not be the first idea that pops into your mind when considering a honeymoon abroad, however with incredibly friendly locals, reasonable prices and the allure of a road trip adventure, you have more than enough reasons to choose Ireland as an idyllic honeymoon away. If it is good enough for Kim and Kanye on their honeymoon, I’m sure its good enough for all of us!

To get the ideas flowing, here are 8 of the most beautiful places to visit on a road trip around Ireland.

Best time to go: Ireland is susceptible to heavy rainfall in the cooler months, so better to stick to the summer season or spring and fall for lower prices but mostly decent weather.

Contact WGY Lifestyle for booking inquiries.

Arosa Kulm Spa

Arosa, Switzerland

After learning that the English royal family holidayed here on a ski trip, I figured Arosa must be something spectacular worth seeing – and right I was! Arosa is a gorgeous little ski village in the Swiss Alps, not too long a train journey from Zurich, one of Switzerland’s most scenic towns. If you’re a couple who prefer to stay active then there’s plenty of snow activities to keep you busy in the winter time, although summer is equally pleasant and a much quieter experience as the crowds have died down. Impossibly romantic and incredibly scenic – Arosa is one of Switzerland’s little known gems.

Check yourself in to the Arosa Kulm for the ultimate Swiss Alps experience.

Best time to go: There really is no bad time to visit Arosa – expect a quiet summer escape in the warmer months and an exciting ski trip in the winter with plenty of time to unwind in the spa.

Contact WGY Lifestyle for booking inquiries.

Positano Amalfi Coast

Amalfi Coast, Italy

Coastal mountains, picturesque towns, island hopping by ferry… shall I go on? There is no denying that the Amalfi Coast is one of Italy’s most romantic destinations and thus most loved and visited. Honeymooners can rest assured there are favourable times to visit to escape the crowds, as long as you’re happy to sacrifice the steamy hot summer temperatures. Crowds aside, the Amalfi Coast is impossible charming, full of great seaside cuisine, and a much loved favourite by locals and visitors alike.

Check yourself in to Le Sirenuse for the ultimate honeymoon experience in the Amalfi Coast.

Best time to go: Contrary to popular belief, the best time to visit Amalfi is not in summer, as the crowds become too much to bear. The best times to visit are May-June & September-October.

.

Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Located northwest of Tahiti in French Polynesia is one of the world’s most talked about honeymoon destinations; Bora Bora. This small island offers crystal clear waters with great conditions for snorkelling and diving, as well as gorgeous, pristine beaches that you thought were only real in your dreams. Its that perfect!

Best time to go: November and April are shoulder seasons with great weather and lower prices.

Place to Stay: The St. Regis Bora Bora  (Contact WGY Lifestyle for Luxury Privileges at the St. Regis Bora Bora)

Nihiwatu resort

Sumba Island, Indonesia

Right next door to Bali, just a 1 hour flight away, is as little known but large island known as Sumba, with minimal development and an incredibly authentic experience on offer. Although the island hasn’t opened up to masses of tourism yet it is only a matter of time – with the beaches much more beautiful than anywhere I have been in Bali, beautiful sunsets, and very welcome hospitality from the locals.

Nihiwatu Resort is a honeymoon haven – offering an inclusive experience so you can arrive and unwind immediately.

Best time to go: May, June & July are generally considered to be the best months to visit.

Contact WGY Lifestyle for booking inquiries.

Tulum Mexico | World of Wanderlust

Tulum, Mexico

A resort town on the Caribbean coast of Mexico, Tulum is regarded as one of Mexico’s top spots to visit for travellers in search of great weather, beaches, and a plethora of resorts to choose from. There’s also plenty to see and do here – including a Mayan archaeological site from the 13th Century and a range of water activities to soak up the sunshine.

Best time to go: Between October and December.

colours in france

Provence, France

Lavender fields, sunflower fields and delicious vineyards are all key characteristics of the southeastern region of France; Province. Spring and summer are fantastic times of year to visit, however with scenery this beautiful you really can’t go too wrong year-round!

Best time to go: Contrary to popular belief, the best time to visit France is in fact outside of summer – both to beat the crowds and see more locals (many of the French take their holidays throughout August). Though if you’re looking to see the iconic lavender fields in full bloom, summer is the time to go!

                                                                                       Happy Honeymooning!

Luxury for Less in Barcelona

image1.tumblr_mpiqzzaJjO1r2doe0o1_1280

For most people, traveling in style across Europe is just a pipe dream, and because of that, many travelers never get to indulge in the extravagance of the high life. In Barcelona however, opulence isn’t limited to the wealthy, as travel writer Sònia Graupera explains to one of National Geographic’s correspondents: “[hotel prices in the city] are still very reasonable, compared to Paris, London, or Milan.”

In the past few years, international chains have expanded in Spain’s second largest city, which worries many budget travelers as boutique hotels have probably upped their costs now that Barcelona is drawing in a higher-earning clientele. But from Sònia’s experience from writing travel pieces about the city, she assures that the family-owned boutique hotels have maintained their affordable pricing.

One of these boutique hotels is the futuristic looking Room Mate Emma, which have decently priced rooms as well as suites with with private terraces. Not too far off from this hotel’s area is The5Rooms, with each of its rooms designed with a different feel. Perhaps the coziest room they have is one that is decked out with bare brick wall and romantic lighting.

For nightlife, travelers will probably check out the city’s bars and clubs, however hopping from place to place in the nightclub district could end disastrously with you spending more than you planned. An alternative to a fancy night out without blowing your savings is by heading over to Casino Barcelona, one of Europe’s finest gambling facilities designed by architect Frank Gehry.

The casino boasts one of the most stunning views of the Mediterraean, and invites all kinds of gamblers to take advantage of their extensive selection of games. These days, many choose to play their casino games online, as many portals are able to provide a bigger selection of games. Gala Casino, in fact, releases new games every week, giving a choice of nearly 400 games that are playable across a variety of devices. While they can’t hope to have the same diversity and variety of games, land-based casinos still uphold a certain kind of elegance and luxury that people still find appealing. Hence why Casino Barcelona is still one of the most revered gaming spots in the world.

After trying your luck at the regular cash games, head over to one of many establishments surrounding the casino and have a cocktail while listening to some live music. The selection of bars and restaurants saves you from having to pay for cab fares between bars and separate entrance fees.

With the diversity of accommodations and entertainment hubs offered, Barcelona makes it possible for you travel luxuriously without spending a fortune.

These are the 10 Best Restaurants in the World

FOODPORN

What’s the greatest restaurant in the world? Top chefs and those who fork over their fortunes to eat their food are fascinated with the question. Now a new ranking has emerged to provide some extra fodder to the debate.

According to La Liste, a group convened by the France’s Foreign Minister and supported by the country’s tourism board, the top restaurant in the world is the Restaurant de l’Hôtel de Ville in Crissier, Switzerland. New York City’s Per Se has grabbed the number two spot, according to the new ranking. Tokyo’s Kyo Aji comes in third.

The ranking’s creators shared their global top 10 and top 100 American restaurants with TIME.

Devoted five-star diners will note that only one restaurant in La Liste’s top 10 can be found on the current leading ranking of top restaurants, the World’s 50 Best list. And there’s good reason. No French restaurant has broken into the top 10 of that list, sponsored by water-maker San Pellegrino, in the last four years. La Liste featured three French restaurants in its top ten. France’s exclusion from the upper rungs of the World’s 50 Best has angered leading French cultural figures proud of their country’s culinary tradition. Partly in response to this disappointment, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius launched the new initiative to promote French tourism and fine dining.

“The angle was not to promote French [restaurants] per se,” says La Liste’s Antoine Ribaut, “but to be objective, because we trust we have the good fine dining.” Ribaut says the World’s 50 Best list is not objective. Several media outlets have pointed out that the lack of transparency does raise questions about how that list, sponsored by San Pellegrino, is decided. (Ribaut has consulted for Time Inc. His father Jean-Claude, the long-time food critic for Le Monde, contributed to the project.)

“Given that this list is based on personal experiences it can never be definitive, but we believe it is an honourable survey of current tastes and a credible indicator of the best places to eat around the globe,” the World’s 50 Best says on the organization’s web site.

“The thing with 50 Best is that the French were underrepresented, for sure,” Antoine Ribaut says, “but the reason why they were underrepresented was because there was a murky financial pressure for restaurants.” The funding for La Liste, it should be noted, came largely from private French cultural institutions. Swiss food giant Nestle is also a supporter.

Unlike the World’s 50 Best list, which is drawn from private surveys of chefs and those who frequent leading restaurants, La Liste is sourced from publicly available data, aggregating scores from 200 food guides and online review sites to produce what it hopes will be seen as an accurate, unbiased report of the best in the world.

The ranking is based on scores and reviews from a wide range of international sources: Michelin stars, yes, but also New York Times and Washington Post reviews, Zagat and Yelp ratings, Forbes and AAA travel guides and James Beard awards in the U.S., plus the cultural equivalents of these institutions in other countries (with help from foreign advisers).

Ribaut and his team then created an algorithm to assign these scores a value on a scale of 100; food factored in as 80% of the score, while ambiance, décor and wine combined factored in as 20%. If there was a positive review that didn’t include a numeric score, Ribaut counted it as a small bonus.
