No matter what your passion is, WGY Lifestyle provides you the exclusive access and content into the most elite industries. That’s why today, we’re interviewing art mogul, Michael Rosen, a successful entrepreneur and creative visionary who’s setting out to take over the country with his newest project, Buzz Art Auction.
WGY: We’ve been hearing this entire “buzz” about Buzz Art Auction; tell our readers what your event really is about?
Michael: Buzz Art Auction was my way to redefine the traditional art auction style. I wanted to do something cool for the younger generation to help build and develop their art collections. By adding in a no-reserve style, mixology programs, live entertainment and celebrity DJs it gives a unique and fun atmosphere to the art world.
WGY: How did you get into the art industry?
Michael: I earned my undergraduate degree from the renowned art program at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2008 and started working with legendary pop-artist Romero Britto. From there, I went on to become the CEO of Photorealism, the worlds leading publisher of photo-realist art. Soon after, I founded Sayet Group, a creative agency organizing and promoting independent art, musical and other iconic cultural events. After dipping my toes into the industry, I decided that I wanted to continue doing events. I single-handedly threw the largest Salvador Dali and Keith Haring traveling exhibit to come to the USA that had a combined attendance of over 50,000 people throughout a one-week period. This eventually led me to start Buzz Art Auction, my newest passion.
WGY: This isn’t your typical type of old school art auction because it’s street art, plus it’s a no reserve auction. Explain to our readers what this really means.
Michael: To put this in simple terms, a no reserve auction means that you can win a $50,000 Banksy piece for $50. Talk about a steal!
WGY: What type of artists can your guests expect to find at Buzz Art Auction?
Michael: You can expect to find many original works by the world’s top street and contemporary artists. You can find artists including but not limited to Banksy, Kenny Scharf, Crash and Icy Sot.
WGY: I see that a portion of proceeds goes to charity, tell us more about this. What types of charities benefit from this?
Michael: We like to partner with foundations that give back to the community and help the children. We’ve partnered before with Ronald McDonald House, Miami Children’s Hospital, Best Buddies and JMJ Foundation just to name a few.
WGY: So this is the first year that Buzz Art Auction will be going Nationwide. That gives our readers a lot of options to check out these events! What cities will you be in?
Michael: We’ll be doing 10 events throughout the country this year starting in New York, Chicago, Boston, Washington DC, LA, San Fransisco, Miami, Dallas, Atlanta and Toronto.
WGY: With three adjectives, how would you describe the vibe at your events?
Michael: Energetic, thrilling and high energy
WGY: What was your biggest challenge in getting these events going?
Michael: The logistics of bringing in all of the top artists from around the world was a challenge but worth it in the end.
WGY: Any last words for our readers?
Michael: Get ready to raise your paddles, Buzz Art Auction is coming to a city near you. Make sure to check it out!
